Applicant
inventor or joint inventors who are applying for a patent on their own invention, or the person mentioned in 37 CFR 1.42, 1.43 or 1.47 who is applying for a patent in place of the inventor.

Any natural person or legal entity indicated as such in a PCT application. At least one applicant must be a national or resident of a PCT Contracting State. For the purposes of the United States of America, the applicant(s) must be the inventor(s).
A person claiming to be the first and true inventor, or assignee of the first and true inventor of an invention. There may be one or more applicants. In the United States, the applicant(s) must be the inventor(s). For a PCT international application the applicant must be any natural person or legal entity who is a national or resident of a PCT Contracting State. An applicant is sometimes known as an assignee or owner.
